Type 304 is the most versatile and widely used austenitic stainless steel, containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This composition, compliant with ASTM A276, provides outstanding resistance to a wide range of atmospheric and chemical corrosives. With a 73,200 PSI tensile strength and excellent weldability, it combines strength with formability. It is non-magnetic in the annealed condition and maintains its properties at cryogenic temperatures.
