Type 303 is an austenitic stainless steel specifically engineered for superior machinability. The controlled addition of sulfur acts as a chip breaker, reducing tool wear and enabling higher cutting speeds for efficient production. It offers good corrosion resistance in mild environments, is non-magnetic in the annealed condition, and conforms to ASTM A582. This grade cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
