Type 303 is an austenitic stainless steel specifically designed for superior machinability. An addition of sulfur to its composition reduces tool wear and allows for higher cutting speeds. It offers good corrosion resistance in mild environments and conforms to ASTM A582 but cannot be hardened by heat treatment. Its non-galling properties make it ideal for moving parts.
