Type 304 stainless steel is the most widely used austenitic grade, often called "18-8" for its 18% chromium and 8% nickel content. This composition provides outstanding resistance to atmospheric and chemical corrosives. Supplied in an annealed condition, it is non-magnetic and offers excellent ductility and formability. This flat bar conforms to ASTM A276 standards for strength and dimensional accuracy.
As a medium-sized 3/4" x 1" bar, it provides a solid balance of strength and workability. It is frequently used for structural bracing, machine ways, wear strips, base plates for smaller equipment, and architectural supports where both durability and a clean appearance are important.
