This large 5" x 3-1/2" x 5/8" hot rolled steel angle is a versatile structural material manufactured to ASTM A36 specifications. It offers a minimum yield strength of 36,000 PSI, excellent weldability, and robust durability for load-bearing applications like heavy framing. In stock Los Angeles.
- A36 Steel Construction
- ASTM A36 Certified
- 36,000 PSI Yield Strength
- Excellent Weldability
A36 hot rolled steel angle, commonly known as angle iron, is produced by forming steel at high temperatures, resulting in a product with a scaled surface and slightly rounded corners. This process ensures compliance with ASTM A36 standards, delivering a reliable combination of strength (36,000 PSI minimum yield) and ductility. Its low carbon content provides excellent weldability for easy fabrication.
As a large structural profile, this 5" x 3-1/2" angle provides significant load-bearing capacity, making it ideal for heavy-duty building frames, industrial equipment bases, large support brackets, and main structural members where strength and rigidity are critical requirements.

Finish Options
This product comes standard with a hot rolled (mill) finish, characterized by a blue-gray, slightly rough surface scale. This scale must be removed before painting or coating. For corrosion protection, finishes such as galvanizing or powder coating can be applied after fabrication. Contact our Los Angeles sales team for custom finish inquiries.
How to Measure
Angle is measured by its two leg lengths (A & B) and its thickness (C). For an unequal leg angle like this one, both leg dimensions are required. Always measure legs from the outer corner to the end.
Example: To order this angle, specify "A36 Steel Angle, 5 inch by 3-1/2 inch by 5/8 inch thickness".
