Type 304 is the most versatile austenitic stainless steel, known as 18-8 for its 18% chromium and 8% nickel composition. This sheet product is manufactured to meet ASTM A240 standards, providing excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion and many chemicals. It is non-magnetic, cannot be hardened by heat treatment, and offers superior ductility and weldability for complex fabrications.
As a small-gauge (24 Ga) product, this sheet is ideal for formed brackets, electronic enclosures, decorative architectural panels, and commercial kitchen backsplashes. The #4 brushed finish provides a clean, directional grain, protected by a removable PVC film to prevent scratching during fabrication and installation.
