6061 Aluminum

6061 Aluminum
Heat Treatable
The most versatile of the heat treatable aluminum alloys, good qualities of aluminum, and it offers a wide range of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. It can be fabricated by the most commonly used techniques.
It is available in the clad form ("Alclad") with a thin surface layer of high purity aluminum to improve both appearance and corrosion resistance.
It is alloyed with 1.0% magnesium and .6% silicon. Tensils strength range from 20,200 to 42,000 psi. It has good formability, weldability and corrosion resistance. Used for engineering and structural applications, boats, furniture, transportation equipment, etc.
T Temper Subdivision
T1--Cooled from an eleveated temeprature shaping process and naturally aged.
T2--Anneled.
T3--Solution heat treated and cool worked.
T4--Solution heat treated and naturally aged.
T5--Cooled from an elevated temperature shaping process and artificially aged.
T6--Solution heat treated and artificially aged.
T7--Solution heat treated and stabilized.
T8--Solution heat treated, cold worked, and artificially aged.
T9--Solution heat treated, artificially aged, and cold worked.
T10--Cooled from an elevated temeprature shaping process, artificially aged and cold worked.
